If you’re interested in making your backyard the neighborhood BBQ spot, we have plenty of tips for you. It can be easy to come up with a general concept for your backyard, but harder to pinpoint all of the details. We’ve made a list of suggested ideas for your backyard barbecue area!

  • PATIO

If you don’t already have a patio, we highly recommend one for those that love cooking and grilling outdoors. This is going to give you the perfect entertainment and grilling space. It’s much easier to roll out your grill and set up tables and chairs on a solid flat surface as opposed to the grass, so a patio will be the perfect base for you. You could go with a simple concrete patio, which is very affordable, and can be stained to add some vibrancy to your outdoor living space. If you have the ability to splurge a little, you can have flagstone placed into the concrete of your patio, and it gives a very natural and rustic feel. You could also use tile as the base for your patio, and choose from an almost infinite amount of styles, shapes, and colors, and have them arranged however you’d like to fit the aesthetic you want. Another option, which is highly recommended by our previous customers, is stamped concrete. Large stamps are pressed into the wet concrete and it gives it a pattern of almost anything you can think of, stone, brick, tiles, etc. It’s a super affordable option for those that want the expensive look without having to pay the expensive price tag. If you need help deciding on what would work best for you and your backyard, College Station Covered Porch and Outdoor Kitchens would be happy to help you decide.

  • PERGOLA/PAVILION

If you’re looking for some shade or protection from the elements while your grill, you’re definitely going to want to cover your patio! Pergolas usually consist of four pillars that support cross-beams or latticework. They provide a decent amount of shade without completely blocking out all the sunlight, and while they’re a simple structure, they can completely change the style of your backyard. If you want something with a little more coverage, you can always have a pavilion installed instead. It’s essentially the same as a pergola, except it has a completely covered roof and provides a bit more protection from the elements. If you’re really interested in the style of a pergola, though, you can have it covered with a clear or tinted plastic to provide more cover without totally sacrificing sunlight. We also stain pergolas and pavilions, with our favorite wood stain, Stain and Seal Experts. If you’re interested in trying out this stain you can find it at Legacy Ace Hardware in College Station, TX.

  • OUTDOOR KITCHEN

While some people just want a simple portable grill to cook on, you might benefit more from an outdoor kitchen! You can choose exactly what you do and don’t want in your outdoor kitchen, and accent with the perfect countertops and cabinets that fit your particular style. For the chefs and hosts out there, this is a perfect addition to your backyard space. Not only will it add value to your home, but it will also create a special space for you to gather with loved ones and create memories. Common things you might put into your outdoor kitchen are: a grill, refrigerator, burners, an oven, sink, plenty of countertop space, storage space, dishwasher. These appliances don’t have to be smaller versions either, we can install full sized appliances that will work just as well.

  • SEATING AREA

Of course, if you want to host barbecues, you’re going to need a place for guests to sit down and relax. You can accomplish this with a nice table and chairs, or you can take it a step further and have an entire outdoor living room installed. Outdoor living rooms are becoming more and more popular as people want to be able to enjoy some fresh air without sacrificing comfort. These outdoor living rooms are often decked out with full couches and chairs, fireplaces, and even TVs. The possibilities are truly endless!
